Welcome

I am a Columbia-trained psychiatrist and translational neuroscientist with a broad expertise in providing treatment of a variety of mental health conditions. In particular, I specialize in helping those who suffer from prolonged depression that has been difficult to treat, often referred to as treatment-resistant depression. I conduct research on depression and bring evidence-based, cutting-edge treatments into my practice. I have a systematic, thorough, and patient approach to these complex cases, which often require a multi-pronged, highly individualistic treatment plan. My goal is to increase your quality of life, professional functioning, and interpersonal relationships. In my practice, I use an individualized, empathic, collaborative approach to the treatment of psychiatric conditions. Psychiatry is a unique specialty that requires us to not only treat the brain, but also the mind. Therefore, I offer a variety of treatment approaches, including medication management, several types of psychotherapy, and family/couples therapy.

My Practice

Approaches to Treatment

I provide careful initial psychiatric consultations that typically span two sessions, which allows me to thoroughly understand the symptoms and stressors that you are seeking help for and put together the larger picture. At the end of my initial consultation, I will provide a comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and a proposed treatment plan. This treatment plan may include medications, psychotherapy, or a combination of both. When appropriate, I provide referrals for other providers to optimize treatment for your specific needs.

Treatment Modalities

  • Psychopharmacology
  • Supportive Psychotherapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
  • Couples and Family Psychotherapy
